Nose Bleeding A nosebleed, medically known as epistaxis, is the relatively common occurrence of bleeding from the nose, usually noticed when it drains out through the nostrils. The flow of blood normally stops when the blood clots, which may be encouraged by direct pressure. Get emergency treatment if the bleeding does not stop after 20 minutes or a nosebleed occurs after an injury to the head. Acupressure often relieves nosebleed by facilitating blood clotting.
